iCloud Sync Troubleshooting

Follow these steps to resolve iCloud sync issues between your Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

1

Toggle iCloud Sync Off and Back On

Open Awesome Copy, go to Settings > iCloud Sync. Turn sync OFF, wait a few seconds, then turn it back ON. This reinitializes the connection and often resolves temporary sync issues.

2

Verify You're Using the Same Apple ID

All devices must be signed into the exact same iCloud account for sync to work.

Mac

System Settings > Click your name/Apple ID at the top > Verify the Apple ID shown.

iPhone / iPad

Settings > Tap your name at the top > Verify the Apple ID matches your Mac.

3

Check iCloud Storage

Full iCloud storage prevents any new data from syncing.

Mac

System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Check the storage bar > Click "Manage" if needed.

iPhone / iPad

Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.

Tips to free space: Delete old device backups, remove large files from iCloud Drive, delete old photos/videos, or upgrade your iCloud storage plan.

4

Enable Notifications

iCloud uses silent push notifications to tell the app when new data is available. Without notifications enabled, sync may be significantly delayed.

Mac

System Settings > Notifications > Find Awesome Copy > Allow Notifications.

iPhone / iPad

Settings > Notifications > Find Awesome Copy > Allow Notifications > Enable Time-Sensitive Notifications.

5

Enable Background App Refresh (iOS Only)

On Mac, this happens automatically when the app is open. On iOS, Background App Refresh must be enabled for sync to work in the background.

iPhone / iPad

Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Set to "Wi-Fi & Cellular Data" > Toggle Awesome Copy ON.

6

Update to the Latest App Version

Version mismatches between devices can cause sync conflicts. Make sure all devices are running the latest version of Awesome Copy.

Mac

Open the App Store > Click Updates > Find Awesome Copy and update if available.

iPhone / iPad

App Store > Tap your profile icon > Scroll to find Awesome Copy and update if available.

7

Don't Mix TestFlight and App Store Versions

Both devices you want to sync between must be running either both the TestFlight version or both the App Store version of Awesome Copy. Mixing TestFlight and App Store versions will prevent iCloud sync from working.

You can tell you're using TestFlight if the app has an orange dot next to its name, or if you installed it from the TestFlight app. If you need to switch, delete the version you don't want and install the matching version on all devices.

8

Restart Your Devices

Restarting re-establishes iCloud connections and clears caches that may be preventing sync.

Mac

Apple menu > Restart.

iPhone / iPad

Press and hold the power button > Slide to power off > Wait a moment > Turn back on.

After restarting, wait a few minutes for iCloud connections to re-establish, then check if sync is working.

9

Send a Diagnostics Report

If sync still isn't working after trying all the steps above, you can send us a diagnostics report so we can investigate further.

Open Awesome Copy > Settings > Help & Support > Diagnose iCloud Sync Issues > Send Diagnostics.

The diagnostics report includes sync configuration, account status, database statistics, and recent sync activity. No personal clipboard content is included. Copy the diagnostics and email them to awesomecopyapp@gmail.com.
